Stompin' Out Cancer scheduled for Saturday, July 31

Mother Nature decided to rain on our Relay for Life parade this year, literally. It's taken some time, but we have finally nailed down a date for the 2010 Stompin' Out Cancer event, and let me just say, it's going to be a blast!

From 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 31 at the Highland County Fair Grounds, we will be pulling together to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The Little Switzerland Cloggers will be performing from 4-6 and will also be auctioning off some amazing items donated by local artists and shops. (View previous blog posts to see some of the items that will be up for auction.)

Items include:
- A Quilt handmade by Phyllis Whetzel (valued at $2,000)
- Photography by David Cockerham of Mirror Slap Photography
- Photography by Kathy Cobb of Kathy Cobb Photography
- Jewelry donated by Tate Swecker of Mariah Boone
- Paintings by local artist, Renee Vandevander
- Plus, household items, home decor, Bath & Body Works items, and much, much, more!

From 6-8, the Lions Club will host Bingo under the picnic shelter at the fairgrounds. Proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Since we had a rainy Relay for Life this year, we were unable to do the luminary ceremony, so Meg Hodges will be bringing supplies for luminaries, so we can properly honor our loved ones who have fought this horrible disease. The luminary ceremony will take place at the end of the evening.

Bring your friends and family to the Highland County Fairgrounds Saturday, July 31 and let's fight this fight together! Stompin' Out Cancer one beat at a time!!!
